ZEAL AND ENDEAVOR
We have discussed about this theme on a previous article as well, but I decided to review on this aspect as most of us are blind in vision about the practical life.
Now a days when we look at the society, the people have almost forgotten about their zeal, endeavor and commitment. They have kept all them aside and praying for god, where they believe that god will accept everything. By the blessings of god will make all their lives perfect. These sorts of things appends due to lack of awareness in Buddhism. People are used to believe that all the aspects could be done by wishes. This emphasis is nothing but the laziness of the human being. Rather than being zeal and committed for what you need, it is easy to pray for god and wish him to do it for us by looking up. The true fact is it’s a fictitious.
Even a little child understands this situation. One is expecting to have a very nice own house. But this person is very lazy and unaware of how to do it. So he or she pray god and wish by saying“Oh please god give me a nice house ...”Would you ever think this person will get a house in this way? Will god get a house for him from heaven telling “Here you go, it’s all yours ...“
If this person really wants to built a house he would have done a job, earn money and built a house as he dreamed.
Though this is the truth we are not ready to accept it. Isn’t it foolish? If this person gets a disease would you think that he will avoid doing the same foolish routine? Instead of getting medicine for the illness this person will go to kovil or to the nearest church to pray for cure. While it happens in this way some people look at this in a different direction saying that god must have gone mad and that is why normally this sort of illnesses takes place. What an illiterate thought is that? When they start the talking it always begins with “WE ARE IN THE 21ST CENTUARY ...”??? Then why do they work as the Stone Age alliterated hunters to pray all the gods including sun, moon that has no life.
When one says something it is not a must to believe every bit of it ,in that same way when some do certain things according to their beliefs it is not a must to do the same whatever it counts. What we should be doing is using the brain which we use for studying and living. Yes, that is the one right up there! It is given to use, not to utter all the words in prayers.
Now if we look clearly into this “Can we wish for another?” Yes we can wish for another, but not with a selfish thought. That is so useless and mean to wish for own happiness.
If you really need something you should work on it harder with zeal and mostly with endeavour. That is the perspective point where we should start from. This could be used for good and evil as well, for that we need to visually communicate with the mind and Lord Buddha’s philosophy. In this way all of us will spend every moment of our lives by collecting pidgin and merits with earnest. So we shall wish all the living beings sooner discernment of Four Noble Truths
and be able to salvation from existence.
